About Brijon M.

Primer & Poise is published by MadGrey LLC and written by one person, with a named byline on everything.

Brijon M. is the hands-on owner behind MadGrey LLC, the publisher of Primer & Poise. Primer & Poise exists because makeup aimed at mature skin is reviewed almost entirely by people who don't have to shop around arthritic hands, failing eyesight, or a grip that no longer trusts a mascara wand. Every pick on this site is selected by reading formulas, ingredient lists and the experience of people who actually wear them — and by asking one question first: can someone actually get this onto their face?

Why this site exists

There is a gap in how makeup for mature skin gets reviewed, and it can be stated precisely.

The publishers who write well about mature skin do not write about physical constraint. They assume a steady hand, a firm grip and good close vision, and they review products entirely on formula and finish. Meanwhile the publishers writing seriously about accessible beauty are not writing about mature skin. And AARP — the largest organization in the United States representing people over 50 — publishes no guidance at all on applying makeup with arthritis, a tremor or low vision.

So nobody is answering the question that decides whether a product gets used: can you actually get it onto your face? Not whether the formula is good, but whether the cap twists, whether the pump needs a pinch, whether the tube gets harder as it empties, whether it works with one hand.

None of that is printed anywhere, by anyone, on any product page. It is also not difficult to establish — it is simply a thing nobody has bothered to write down, because the people writing about makeup have not needed to know.

Every product page on this site carries a How it handles line for exactly that reason, and the whole easy application section exists because it is the question nobody else in this category is asking.

Who MadGrey LLC is

Primer & Poise is published by MadGrey LLC, which also publishes other independent sites. You can find the company at madgreyllc.com.

There is one person behind the editorial side of this site, and the byline on every page says so by name. That is deliberate: a named human who can be held responsible for a recommendation is a better accountability model than an anonymous editorial team, and it is the only honest one available to a site this size.

How products are chosen

Every pick on this site is selected against written criteria: how the formula behaves on skin that has lost oil and firmness, what the ingredient list actually contains, how the packaging dispenses and whether it can be managed with reduced grip, how broad the shade range is, and whether the product is currently sold.

Rankings are editorial judgments applied consistently against those criteria. There is no numeric scoring system, because a weighted score we could not substantiate would be worse than an honest judgment.

The full method, including what we refuse to do, is on how we choose.

What we don't do

This is the part most sites leave out, so it is stated plainly here and repeated on every page.

  • We do not operate a laboratory and we conduct no clinical or instrumental testing.
  • We do not run a tester panel. Nobody is paid or asked to trial products for this site.
  • We claim no professional credentials. There is no cosmetology qualification, no esthetics licence and no medical training behind this site, and we never imply otherwise.
  • We do not claim first-hand testing of products we have not used. Where a page says a formula behaves a certain way, that is reasoned from how it is formulated and documented, and the page says so.
  • We do not give medical advice. Several pages here touch arthritis, tremor, low vision, dry eye and rosacea, and in every case the page describes product design and refers the condition to a doctor.
  • We do not publish prices we cannot verify. Where you see "Check price on Amazon", that is because the live price is on Amazon rather than because we are hiding it.
  • We do not accept payment, product or placement in exchange for a ranking. See the editorial policy.

How the site makes money

Primer & Poise is funded by affiliate commission. When you follow a buy link here and purchase something, we earn a commission from the retailer. You never pay more because of our link, and we earn the same whether you buy the product ranked first or the one ranked last.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

Commission never affects which products are selected, how they are ranked, or what is said about them. The full statement is on the affiliate disclosure page.

Corrections and contact

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Email contact@primerandpoise.com or use the contact form.

Corrections to a factual error are made promptly and the page's updated date changes to reflect it. If a correction materially changes a recommendation, the page says what changed.

There is no phone number and no postal address for this site, which is normal for an independent publisher and is noted here so you are not looking for one.
